This policy explains how plans, credits, fees, refunds and chargebacks work on PressWiser. It forms part of the Terms of Service. Payments are taken by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
1. Plans and billing
- A plan grants a fixed monthly allotment of credits. Current plans, allotments and prices are on the Pricing page.
- You can pay monthly, quarterly or annually. Longer periods are discounted, and are charged up front together with the credits for the whole period.
- Plans renew automatically at your chosen cadence until you cancel. You can change plan or cadence in the billing screen; the change is processed by Stripe and, mid-period, is charged or credited pro rata.
- The optional Managed Service add-on is available on selected plans only, is billed as an extra line on your subscription, and can be removed at any time.
- Prices are shown before any taxes. If we are required to collect tax we will show it before you pay.
2. What a credit is
A credit is a unit of account inside the service, used to pay for placements. It is not money, is not an electronic-money or stored-value product, earns no interest, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be transferred between organizations. The credit cost of a placement is shown on its publication before you submit: standard placements cost 10 credits, premium 20 credits, and featured placements 35 credits. Quoted placements are priced individually.
3. Platform fee
For publications owned by independent partners, a platform fee of 15% of the placement's credit cost (rounded up to a whole credit) is added and held with it. Publications owned by Fair Media Group carry no fee. The cost, the fee and the total are shown before you submit.
4. Holds, spending and release
- When you submit an article, its total credits are held from your balance. A hold is a reservation, not a charge.
- If the publisher declines the placement, or the placement is declined because requested changes were not sent back in time, the whole hold, including any platform fee, is released to your balance.
- If the placement is published, the credits are spent and are not refundable.
- You can only submit while your subscription is active and your balance covers the total.
5. Expiry
- Monthly allotment: unspent credits from a plan's allotment expire at the end of each billing cycle.
- Top-up credits: stay available while your subscription is active and expire when it ends (cancelled, unpaid or expired). A payment that is merely overdue does not expire them while we retry the payment.
- Credits already held against a submitted article are never expired.
- Every expiry is recorded in your credit history as its own entry.
6. Top-up packs
Top-up packs are one-time purchases that add credits to your balance. They are priced per pack on the Pricing page and are cheaper per credit in larger packs. They require an active subscription to spend and expire as described above.
7. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time in the billing screen. The plan then ends at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep access until then. We do not refund the part of a period you have not used, except as set out below.
8. Refunds
- Credits for a declined placement are returned as described in section 4. That is a release, not a refund of money.
- Subscription charges: refund window is none.
- Credits that were spent on a published placement and credits that have expired are not refundable.
- If we charge you in error, or the law gives you a right to a refund, we will refund you through Stripe to the original payment method.
9. Failed payments
If a renewal fails, Stripe retries it for a period. Until it succeeds the subscription is overdue and you cannot submit new placements. If it is not paid, the subscription ends and the expiry rules apply.
10. Chargebacks and disputes
If you have a problem with a charge, contact support@presswiser.com first so we can fix it. If a payment is charged back we may suspend the account, reverse credits granted for that payment, and recover reasonable costs.
11. Publisher payouts
Publishers are paid through Stripe Connect. The commission, the minimum payout ($50) and the timing are set out in the Publisher Agreement.
12. Invoices and receipts
Stripe issues receipts and subscription invoices for payments it processes. Manage payment methods and download them from the billing screen (Cards & receipts).
